Each type of event we host has a different purpose, and has its own goals and atmosphere. Our members understand these guidelines and come prepared to work, discuss, or learn as appropriate.
We patronize & respect the establishment. We are guests at these locations. Libraries graciously open their doors to serve us, and restaurants rely on the business our patronage brings.
Each library has its own rules for food and drink. We follow these rules and leave the study rooms we use in the same condition we find them in.
We do not bring outside food and drink into restaurants and coffee shops. We purchase something–a drink, a meal, or a snack–to bring in revenue to these businesses. We respect their hours of operation and leave their tables in the same condition we find them in.
No matter our location, we respect other patrons. Librarians, cashiers, and servers are on the job, and we must provide them with common courtesy to do their best work as they serve their other patrons and keep their operations running smoothly. We use these locations over and over again–the people who host us are our friends and colleagues.
We are here to write and discuss craft. Writing can be an isolated endeavor, so we meet to connect, teach, and encourage.
We do not tolerate harassment or abuse of any kind. This includes physical contact, violation of personal space, or any behavior that makes a member feel uncomfortable. We do not tolerate hate speech. This includes racism, misogyny, bigotry, or targeting any marginalized group. We do not tolerate discrimination, bullying, or shaming. Violators will be removed from the group at ML discretion and reported to NaNoWriMo.org.
This is a safe space for writers of all types. Municipal Liasons have an open door policy for concerns and complaints. Please come to us to address any issues you have, because we want you to feel comfortable and welcome in our group.
